Are there the Data Source list of Live Connection?

I want to know the Data Source list of Live Connection.

Power BI have 3 type connection type for Data Source.

Import type, DirectQuery type, and Live Connection type.

Now, Some Data Sources connect by Live Connection.

- Power BI Service.

- SQL Server Analysis Service

Are there any data sources connected by Live Connection?

Hi @yoshihirok,

Do you have any special needs or concerns? In my opinion, the live connection and Direct query don't have any big differences. Reference: power-bi/service-q-and-a-direct-query.

Yes, I want to build our Data Model,

Now Power BI can build it with multiple Imports and multiple DirectQuery data sources after July 2018.

This is the time for build new Data Model.

For do more by separate of DirectQuery only to Imports and DirectQuerys, by change to Import from DirectQuery.

to reduce the storage cost, reduce the ETL tasks, and more easy, more 

and it is NOT include Live Connection data source.

So, I want the Data Source list of Live Connection for re-build new Data Model.

Hey, currently there are the two data sources you already mentioned:

• Power BI Service
• Analysis Service (on-premises (multidimensional and tabular) and Azure Analysis Serivices(Tabular))

There is a post from Amanda Cofsky some time ago, where also the connection to the Common Data Model is considered as a live connection:

But I never heard that any other data source than Power BI Service or Analysis Service is considered to be a "live connection"

Connecting to SAP BW is considered a "Direct Query" connection, even if the data source resembles more to SSAS Multidimensional than to a relational data source.

Yes, The Data Source of Live Connection are two, Power BI Service and Analysis Service.

Now, Power BI is going with Composit Model, with using multiple Inport data sources and multiple DirectQuery data sources at a same time, togather.

So, I will research more, the other Data Source, Live Connection.
