We'd like to have a historical weekly view of the status of our clubs. The problem is that the status is stored in a column and it changes over time. When the status changes (a new status overwriting an old status), we lose historical data. We're wondering if we can archive weekly snapshots in a separate table. Feels like a trivial task... but can't find a way to do it with Power BI. Does any of you know how to do it?
Hello,
I saw this post from quite a while ago however no one seems have answered it properly.
I am not 100% sure to this but I think incremental refresh will hold the historical data without changing. For example when you do incremental refresh to the dataset on a date/time field; specify the range how long you want to hold the historical data. Then on second option, you will need to choose the time frame for how long worth of data you want to refresh in this case lets say one week. So, what happens is when this is publised in the service it will load the historical data lets say up to 2 years and only refreshes for one week worth of data. This will keep the data beyound that one week window, untouched (keeping the historical data). Please check out other online resources about incremental refreshes in PBI, hope that will help.
Thanks
Pthapa
How did this end up working out for you? I'm currently encountering a similar issue with a report that I manage on a weekly basis. I have static fields that can change week-over-week and I need to track those trends. Currently, I am doing this manually by archiving excel spreadsheets and time stamping each line item.
