ArcGIS Map - "Basemap is unavailable"

Hi All,

I have an ArcGIS map visual included in my report, and it was working fine for the first few days. However, for the past 1-2 weeks, I've been receiving an error message stating "The basemap is unavailable or has been deleted from the server." There is an option to "Reset map" but I've tried clicking it and nothing happens. See snippet below.

I am not even able to switch the basemap even though I have enabled it under "Map Tools" since I can't interact with the visual at all. I have tried deleting the visual and re-adding it, no luck. I've tried changing out which values I'm including in the visual, no luck.

The weird thing is that I use this exact visualization in another page of my report (same visual type, same "Map Tools" options selected, same basemap selected, etc.), and I am not encountering any issues on that page.

Has anyone else run into this issue and was able to resolve it? Thank you!

Hi @ksheth ,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue

  • Go to File, Options and Settings , Options , Data Load and Click Clear Cache, then restart Power BI.
  • Create a new page, add a fresh ArcGIS visual, and reconfigure it manually (don’t copy/paste the old one). This often works better than re-adding it to the same page.
  • Switch to another basemap (like "Dark Gray Canvas") and see if it loads. Then switch back to your original one
  • Ensure your network isn’t blocking access to servers. Sites like *.arcgis.com must be reachable.
  • Double-check settings between the broken and working maps — filters, fields, basemap style, etc. A tiny difference can cause issues.

Hi @v-sathmakuri

I have a similar issue. I have three maps that use the same data fields; the only difference is the data for the colour field. Once in a while, one suddenly stops working while the other two are working fine, and there is no way to fix it. I tried your solutions, and it did not work. In the end, I copy it from a backup file and use it, and after a couple of days, another map will fail (the fact that which map will face the error is related to which map is on the starting page). It looks like a bug to me, but I would appreciate it if you could provide some insights.

Thanks!
