Applying a PowerBI template to another dataset

My work produces a lot of similar datasets for each project we complete. The data is arranged in an excel file. I would like to create a PowerBI template that can be used to visualize projects as they are completed. I have created a template with various visualizations and slicers for a test dataset. I would like to be able to take that template with the exact same visualizations and slicers, and either apply it to another dataset or change out datasets in the template. Is there a way to do this? I do not want to have to, from scratch, build the same report every time I have a new dataset to analyze. With the template I created, I tried saving it and reopening it, but the old data table was still associated with it and I was unable to figure out how to load in new data. It seems what I am looking for is the definition of a template, no?

CRTL + A Then CRTL+C. This will copy the all the visuals in the dashboard. Then in another page or power bi report just CTRL + V.

Thank you for your response. I tried opening a new report with a different set up data. I then copied the visuals from the template report and I am unable to paste into the new report.

what you could do is instead of using the template feature, is to make a copy of an already existing report and then opening the query editor and edit the path to the excel file. If the files are exactly the same instead of the values being different then that should hopefully work

  • Please, I need help, I want to capture exactly the same projection in a new template with new data, maybe you could collaborate with me with a video explaining how to do it, please!!!
