Applying Separate Theme to One Visual

Hello, I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to apply a theme to just one visual. The Sankey visual is famous for it's color issues, so I'm trying to get around that by applying a custom theme.  Is there any way to do this or am I barking up the wrong tree?
