Append Queries do now show in the Query Pane.

I'm wondering if you are using "Append as new"

Hopefully this is the missing the link.

i think TomMartens is right.

In case of emergency you can start with a "Blank Query" and enter your M code in the formula bar.

An interesting alternative is described here as point 5.

Well gentleman, I'll give all of you a 10 out of 10 for your clever reply.

I spent over 1 hours repeating the tutorial in the book with various dummy datasets from Excel and never got an Append1 query.
