Another newbie question: Select Data in one table and filter another table using Contains/find?

Hi all,

This is an extension of my previous post.  I have two tables: AD group and Users.  If a user selects a row in the AD group, I want the Users table to be filtered if the "Member of" column contains the AD group in the AD group table.  So in the following example, if the user selects Finance Users Group in the first table, the second table should only show Bart Simpson and Homer Simpson.

I know this is a contains or finds, but can't seem to get it working

Thanks for any help!

Troy

    1. split the member of column

    2. select user name column and unpivot other columns

    3. delete the attribute column and rename the value column

    4. create relationships.

TeeroyinOttawa For this to work you should create a relationship between the two tables then it will work fine as expected.

Appreciate your Kudos, Press the thumbs up button!!👍

Thanks for your response Husna.  What kind of relationship should I be creating?  Given there are no matching columns to link? (i.e. in table 1 I have AD Group, and in table 2 I have only User Name and Member of (containing the comma delimited values).

      TIA!

        Hi,

Using the Query Editor, split the entries in the Members of column of the second table to rows.  Then build a relationship between this second column and the single column of the AD Group table.  Build your slicer from the AD Group Table.  To your Table/matrix visual, drag User Name column from the second table.
