All statistics greyed out in Power Query

I am trying to perform a count of values in a text column. The statistics button is greyed out in both the Transform and Add Column tabs. It will not allow me to perform counts for non-numeric columns.

All other statisitic functions work as expected for numeric data.

Is this a settings issue?

  • This appears to be a glitch associated with the setting Options > Global > Report Settings > Customize Appearance.

Setting this option to anything other than "Legacy" causes this glitch along with others including disabling the Power Query quick-access toolbar.

I've already placed some feedback and you may want to as well:

Thanks, that's annoying. I'll send the feedback.

  • Do you want to create a new column? what's the expected output?

No, I just want to create an aggregate statistic of the count of values or count of distinct values for a text column. The statistics button is greyed out for any text column I select. I can create a count or count statistic value for a numeric column, just not a text column. This was working and has stopped since I updated PowerBI
