After update, gateway is online, but connectors are offline?

After updating to v3000.254.6, the Power BI connectors are appearing offline, while the gateway remains online. Despite this, I can access the database, and report refreshes are functioning correctly.

I am encountering the following error message:

Error code: UnknownError
Connection error: Unknown error
Cluster URI: https://api.powerbi.com
Session ID: 568346a0-b087-45b2-9bcd-45bc92c96fb4
Request ID: befc95a7-4937-4a6e-bdf8-ab0bcd4d4800
Time: Tue Feb 18 2025 17:57:49 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time)
:
Microsoft Gateway: Received error payload from gateway service with ID 574026: SqlException encountered while accessing the target data source.

The gateway is installed on Windows Server 2022. I have verified that both PowerShell 7 and the latest gateway PowerShell module are installed and up to date.

HI @NinjaX ,

Did this issue only appeared on the old connections? Have you tried to add a new connection to test?

If this scenario only occured for the old connections, they may caused by new version gateway backend/interface changes that not compatible with created old version connections.

Regards,

Xiaoxin Sheng

I was able to add a new connection and access the data successfully, but it still shows offline.

I tried adding my server to the SqlTrustedServers, but I got the same result.

HI @NinjaX,

So you mean this only displied the offline and they can work normally as online status? If that is the case, I'd like to suggest waiting for the hotfix from power bi team or tried to open a support ticket as bendlin mentions to contact and report this scenario to power bi team.

Regards,

Xiaoxin Sheng

They show offline, but my reports are updating correctly, and I'm able to connect to the databases via PowerBI to pull data. I'm assuming this is a bug...?

When have you last logged in to the gateway cluster members via their management app?

Please explain what you mean by "connectors".

Have you raised a ticket?

Ah, you mean connections.

There is a difference between a gateway cluster member being online and able to accept job requests (physical readiness)   and any of the gateway cluster members being able to fulfil a connection request (either because they cannot see the data source, or because the provided credentials are invalid).

Each of these are separate things and need to be checked and fixed separately.
