Adding checkbox filtering to PowerBI table (all text)
Hi there. I'm building a tracker of ESG regulations across markets, based on a simple, completely text-based Excel file. I'm updating it now to include a 'focus area' column, with the goal of helping users to filter regulations by type, rather than have to scroll through the whole 50-row table.
I'd like to find a way of having the user click on the 'Focus area' tab (underlined in pink below) and have a drop-down list of different types of focus areas (e.g. carbon offsets, anti-greenwashing measures) where they can check the box of the regulation type they want to see, and the table will only show regulations tagged with the chosen type of focus area.
I've tried for days to find a way to do this theoretically simple task, but to no avail. Is there a way, or a straightforward workaround for a total newbie?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Mudkip1984
As of now there is no such a way to filter the values in Table chart itself. Just a suggestion, You can use a external slicer having the Focus area values and from here you can filter the values. It'll filter the values how ever you want.
If you need this feature, you may submit your idea to Microsoft here CXP Ideas - Suggest New Idea - URSA for future consideration. Thanks!

Hi Mudkip1984 ,
Regarding your question, the places you have marked can only be sorted briefly when clicked. If there is additional area on the report page that can be displayed, you can use the “Focus area” column to create a slicer for filtering.

You can also allow users to filter directly in the filter pane , click on the eye icon to the user to hide the unwanted columns.
