Adding ODBC datasource to gateway

I already connected power BI with ODBC data set and I want to schedule a refresh using gateway.

However, even after following this thread, I get an error.

Hi @Anonymous ,

You can refer to another solved thread "schedule refresh using ODBC (Firebird driver) and Data Gateway" .

Firstly, please create System DSN instead of User DSN in ODBC administrator to points to your data source.

Secondly, follow the guide in this similar thread to add your ODBC data source within on-premises gateway, then check if you can refresh your dataset.

Or please check your ODBC configuration carefully.

Best Regards,

Amy

Thank you for your input @v-xicai

I've now scheduled a refresh for my database, however, even after the refresh my datatable is still not udpated.

Here are the steps I take:

1. I schedule the refresh on PBI Service

2. I save my PB Desktop file and close the program

3. Refresh takes place and finishes after around 15 minutes.

4. I open Power BI again, and check my data table. It is still not updated.

5. If I hit the "Refresh" button manually on PBI Desktop, it will update correctly.

EDIT:After searching online, it seems like gateway is only connected with the data source and not with the Power BI Desktop.
