Adding Data to a Calendar

I have seen several posts here and videos elsewhere of people using Akvelon, or similar, calendar tools.

For the life of me I can't figure out what I'm doing different from them to get no data to show up on my dashboard visual.

What I'm after is a simple calendar view, and if there is an entry, any entry, then it will place something on the calendar. What it places on the calendar can be a dot, a block, etc.

I intend to use this to monitor safety events in our facility if it is possible.

I have the data laid out like this currently in an Excel sheet, but none of the instructional videos go into how to ready the data source, so I'm relying on quick screen shots that they don't go over.

Any help is appreciated as I try to learn this extremely valuable tool.
