Add existing report to PBIP

Hi guys,

We are testing on the power bi project feature, we want to add exisitng report to an already created power bi projects, Any step by step approach is helpful, we can add it via POWERBI.com easily, but not clear on do i add from local desktop; sample project we created and can be viewed via visual studio code.

Only option is to upload to exisitng workspace where its been already configured to GIT, but no other  way to add directly to local visual studio code or PBI dekstop.

You can try the following ways:

You can use the Power BI External Tools feature to launch Visual Studio Code from Power BI Desktop and edit your report. You need to install the TOM client libraries and create a script to connect and manage your model. 

You can use the Tabular Editor tool to edit your report in Visual Studio Code. You need to install Tabular Editor and configure it as an external tool in Power BI Desktop.

Hi @navin_d 

You can try the following steps to add an existing Power BI report from your local desktop to your Power BI service:

Make sure the report you want to add is a PBIX file.

Open Power BI Desktop. Click on "File" -> "Open"

Select and open your report. Click on "Publish", choose the workspace where you want to add the report.

Once published, you can view and manage the report in Power BI Service by navigating to the appropriate workspace.
