Add a Dynamic Value to a Text Box - July 2026

Apparently, adding a dynamic value to a text box is no longer permitted unless you submit to that frivolous and annoying "on object interaction."

Tell me I wrong.  Please.

I tried to do this like I always have and could not find any way to do it.

Copilot suggested it was "on object interaction."

Switching, I found that to be the truth.

We are slowly being forced into adopting this "on object interaction," which is mostly annoying and in the way.

It would be helpful to know what functionality is being removed and not have to simply discover it. </rant>

If I am missing something, please enlighten me.

  • Thank MFelix & danextian ... I just discovered the problem.  It is still functioning but the interaction appears to have changed slightly.

Previously, when attempting to add a Value, it defaulted to the screen you offered danextian .

I wish I had got a screen shot when I posted this because that field "How would you like to calculate the value" was simply not there.

Looking it at today, I noticed it is there.

However, I also noticed there is an ever so slight delay in that row loading, causing it to momentarily appears as if it is not there.

  • That is inaccurate.

Version: 2.156.951.0 64-bit (July 2026) AND web both offer the abiltiy to add values WITHOUT On-Objection Interaction.

And, Thank Dog.  I absolutely hate On-Objection Interaction, finding more clicks in that interaface than the classic.

      jusTodd ,

Thanks you for refutting the Prince0011  answer, I have done the test, danextian and you also did it.

It seems like an AI answer, that you even referes on your first post and then you also refutted.

Well done pointing that this is innacurate.

It’s frustrating to see some users simply post whatever AI generates without even testing it first.

  • Hi jusTodd ,

In my test I was able to do the add of the dynamic values with and without on-object interactio, what I have noticed on previous options of adding dynamic values in text box is that is slowly being removed from semantic models that do not have Co-pilot capabbilities.

This can be check by the fact that Q&A is going to be retired in December 2026 and being replaced by Copilot visuals so you won't be able to do the questions and have results, this has an impact on those dynamic text box.

So basically what you are watching is the deprecation of Q&A and the eventual removal from the text box also unfortunatly.

Believe that if you got it active/inactive on the on-object is just a coincidence.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Hi jusTodd

Are you referring to this? Still works on my end with the June 2026 version and on-object interaction disabled.
