Add New Column to existing data in MS Lists

Hello

I want to add a new column to the existing data set in my MS Lists and refresh my dashboard.

I have already built a dashboard based on the data set and at the moment the only way around it I can see is to create it again from scratch. However, there must be a way around it!

Help to avoid this would be GREATLY appreciated.

I struggled with the same problem. The only way I could get the new column is:

  1.  Download the report (under File > Download this file > A copy of report and data (.pbix))
  2. Open the report in Power BI Desktop
  3. Open the linked table in Power Query (under "Transform Data")
  4. Make sure your new column(s) are present
  5. Click Apply
  6. Refresh data
  7. Save
  8. Publish the report back to your workspace
  9. Ready!

Hi Arul,

I added a new column in the MS List.  It is not coming over in the Power BI data set as I loaded it prior to adding the new column.  How do I add the new column to the dataset in PBI?

@Anonymous ,

Is it based on some condition that you need to add a column?

Hi Yeah.  I need to add the column as additional data for the report.  I cannot figure out how to do so in Power Query

@Anonymous ,

Please share the sample dataset and expected output.

Columns from the first snip are what I want, from a Microsoft List.  "Country" was recently added.
Second snip is from Data in Power Query
