Accessing data in Project Online custom list
Hi,
I am trying (unsucessfully!) to access data in a custom list in Project Online. I have created a "Project Updates" list within PWA - https://domain.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/Lists/Project%20Updates/AllItems.aspx. This list is part of the site temaplate so is created for each new Sharepoint project site, I believe in the same way the OOTB Risks and Issues lists are created.
My question is regaring how I then access the data in Power BI. I have downloaded the Power BI reporting pack and am customising in Power BI Desktop. On the "Project Status" report page, I would like to add the latest entry from the "Project Updates" list. This will then filter depending on the project selected.
I have attempted to update the query to include the list but am unsure how to connect to pull the date in. I have checked the API (Source = OData.Feed(#"PWA Site URL" & "/_api/ProjectData/[en-us]"),) however I don't believe custom lists are included.
Any help would be greaty appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi simoncurrier
From this
"I have downloaded the Power BI reporting pack and am customising in Power BI Desktop. "
It seems you connet to Project Online with Power BI Service, then Download the report as a .pbix.
In Power BI Desktop, you need to add another table called "Project Updates" list from this Project Online site.
I suggest you connect to data (list in Project Online) through Power BI Desktop,
then manage relationships among this new added table and others
or Shape and combine data in Power BI Desktop.

Hi Maggie,
Thanks very much for your reply.
I have previously attempted to connect to the list however the article below and others I have found state to connect to the https://<tenantname>.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa/_api/Projectdata. As this is a custom list, it does not show in the API.
My issue is defining to the correct string in Power BI to connect to the list per project in Project Online.
Many thanks
Simon

Hi simoncurrier
The Project Data ODATA feed only contains the default Project Site lists and default columns (Risks, Issues, etc.), custom lists and columns are not included.
To connect to custom list within Project web application, please check the sample code in the blog and similar thread below.
