About Extending Session Timeout in Power BI Premium

Hello

 

I am using a Power BI Premium account and have created a report in Report Builder, which I’ve published to apps.powerbi.com.

Could you please advise how to manage or extend the session timeout duration? Ideally, I would like the session to remain active for more than two hours.

I also noticed that there is no web.config file in my installation path, so I am unsure where to make this configuration change.

    Hello RussellBode 

    Power BI Service (cloud) doesn’t allow extending the browser session timeout beyond about 2 hours of inactivity — this is controlled by Microsoft 365’s Idle session timeout policy, not by Power BI itself.
    The web.config file applies only to Power BI Report Server (on-premises), not apps.powerbi.com.
    You can only
    Adjust dataset query timeouts inside Report Builder.
    Ask your Microsoft 365 admin to extend the idle session timeout for your organization (max = 24 hours).
    For dashboards that must stay active (e.g., kiosk displays), use automatic page refresh or embedded reports with token refresh instead.
    No Power BI Premium update (as of Oct 2025) adds a new way to extend cloud session timeouts.

      this didnt work my report is pagniated report

      i tried to make seesion time output by extending the DataSet time out to 8 hours

      it didnt work.

      so we share the report link with client and do you want me to share embedded reports link?
