ARC-GIS PowerBI Help!

Hi buddycho,

You can not use the standard Power BI Fields pane for ArcGIS layers if you want independent filtering (You must use the maps own layer menu)

In Short:

1-Adding Data to Map Layers:

• Click on your ArcGIS map visual.
• In the map toolbar click the first icon (Visualizations pane for the map).
• Click + Add Data > Power BI Dataset.
• (For Layer 1) Select your Facilities table then Set the latitude/longitude then Drag Type to "Category"
• (For Layer 2) Click + Add Data again and Select your MineralDeposits table then Set the latitude/longitude then Drag Mineral to "Category"

2-Slicers Fix:

• Create your slicers from the Facilities(Type) and MineralDeposits(Mineral) fields.
• The Secret part is that is the layers will automatically respond only to slicers from their own source table no special interaction settings are needed for the map (The Facilities layer ignores the Mineral slicer and vice versa)

3-Fix Tooltips:

• In the ArcGIS visual settings then go to each layer's Tooltips section.
• Manually drag and drop the fields into your desired order ( Ignore the order in the Power BI "Fields" pane)

Note:

• By adding layers via PowerBI Dataset you are connecting the ArcGIS visual directly to the Power BI data model allowing it to respect the native filtering context from slicers on the page
• The tooltip ordering still needs to be done manually in the ArcGIS layer settings but the core filtering problem will be solved
