ALM Toolkit : Connecting to Workspace Error
After a little more digging, I discovered this was related to a tenant setting under Integration Settings in the Admin portal.
'Use Analyze in Excel with on-premises datasets' must be enabled. I've enabled this in our tenant settings and can now successfully connect using the method above.

You need to use correct dataset string, you could copy dataset string in dataset setting like below
powerbi://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/<workspace name>
Then it will prompt credential windows, you need to sign in, then you could choose dataset name in that worksapce. This seems work in premium workspace.

I managed to get as far as signing in, prompting for credentials etc. It's right after this that I get the error message. Notably I've also noticed a similar error when I tried to connect using other tools like SSMS with the workspace connection string. Is there a tenant setting somewhere I've missed perhaps?
The workspace is assigned to Premium capacity, and the XMLA Endpoints for the capacity is set to read/write - though I'm not intending to write to it just yet, only wanted to test the comparison functionality.
