ACTIVITY Field Column in the Dashboard Usage

I am getting usage information by using API and would like to ask this question.  What ACTIVITY should I use to be considered as VIEWS?  I would like to do a report that would count the views.  Just like what we have in the USAGE METRICS which only shows 3 months, I would like to know how the VIEWS are counted.  Right now, I am only considering VIEWREPORT, VIEWDASHBOARD, EXPORTREPORT, VIEWTILE.  Should I consider other ACTIVITY?  Please let me know.  Thanks!

To count views in Power BI usage reports, you're on the right track by considering activities like VIEWREPORT, VIEWDASHBOARD, EXPORTREPORT, and VIEWTILE. These activities reflect interactions where users view or export reports and dashboards.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the key activities to consider for tracking views:

  1. VIEWREPORT: Logged when a user opens or views a report.
  2. VIEWDASHBOARD: Logged when a user views a dashboard.
  3. EXPORTREPORT: Logged when a user exports report data (optional based on whether you consider exports as a "view").
  4. VIEWTILE: Logged when a user views a specific tile on a dashboard or report.

Additional activities to consider based on user interaction with content:

  • PRINTREPORT: If users are printing reports, this could be seen as a form of "view."
  • EXPORTTILETOCSV: If users export data from a specific tile.
  • EMAILSUBSCRIBETODASHBOARD: Users subscribing to email updates from a dashboard may also reflect continued engagement.

These events reflect user engagement and might be useful to capture for a more complete understanding of views and interactions. It's important to align the activity types you include with your specific reporting goals.

Hi, @rkee10

You can learn which behaviors are considered an ACTIVITY from the following official documents:

Operation list - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

After you call Power BI activity log, your response will contain the ACTIVITY mentioned in the above document:
