ABC Analysis

Good Evening Everyone!

I have been working over the last few weeks on creating an ABC analysis however, I am still struggling with the calculations and formulas necessary to meet the requirements of the analysis I need to get done. This is somewhat due to being unable to find tutorials that can do an ABC analysis on so many levels and still be relatively new to DAX & PowerBI.

I have attached an image below to show what I need to achieve. Any help would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Hi Ashish,

Is there a quick way to get following results using RANKX in ABC analysis?

    1. Top 10% of annual cost to A
    2. Between 10% and 50% of annual cost to B
    3. Between 50% and 90% of annual cost to C
    4. Bottom 10% of annual cost to D

Looking forward for your kind response.

Thanks & best regards,

PG

Hi,

I have a similar requirement, based on Div/Cat and Gender and YTD Sales Data i need to classify the Article Codes as ABC. The articles which contributes to the 70% of sales will be calssified as A, 70% to 90% as B, and 90% above as C. Below is the sample data.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Please study the file which i shared the link of in my post dated 23-11-2017.  Apply those formulas on your dataset as well.

The file is not accessible , it says the item might not exist/no longer available. Could you please reshare it?

Thanks

The file has been deleted somehow and i do not have the link now.  Sorry for that.  Share an MS Excel file with your formula/Pivot Tables based workings there.  I will try to translate those formulas in the DAX language.  Give adequate notes/descriptions in the Excel file so that your intention can be well understood.

Please download the excel file from above link. My requirement is Div-Cat-Gender-Site code - based on these 4 columns the YTD Sales cumulative to be calculated , and the articles which are contributing to 70% of the Cumulative sales will be categorized as A, 70-95% as B and rest all as C. I have tried in excel as per this, not sure if it is 100%. Please input your valuable feedbacks/suggestions.  Thanks again

Hi,

My method is taking a lot of time to process and still not returning the correct result.  Please start a new thread.  I am sure others will help you.

The SQLBI boys have pages about ABC Analysis on their daxpatterns site

They wrote the pages based on Excel and Powerpivot, but PowerBI uses the same model
