A question about counting atributes of a table

dear all,

I want to know  (for example) the number of times that the attribute "A" has been seen. If you see the two tables that I've attached, the result is attribute A= 3 (panel 1) *1 + 5 (panel 2) *1+ 12 (panel 3)*0+ 17 (panel 4) *0 = 8 times

Ok. I think it's easy but I'm trying it and I'm not able to achieve the correct result. Could someone help me?
