DataFlow Gen2 : The table does not contain any rows.

Hello,
I have created two different dataflows, Gen1 and Gen2. In Gen1, I added some tables from different sources and when I tried to retrieve these tables by pointing to them from Gen2, I received a message stating that they did not contain any rows, even though they appeared to be filled in Gen1. I would like to know if someone could help me understand what is causing this issue please

Hello v-cboorla-msft,
After several attempts to delete and recreate DataFlowGen2, I was able to recover the data, but with errors. I received the following error message: 'Error: DataFormat.Error: We couldn't convert to Number. PMI. RootActivityId = 486dc079-89cf-4a49-aaba-85353fc28cb1. Param1 = DataFormat.Error: We couldn't convert to Number. PMI Request ID: ecd3980c-3010-7389-8d8a-6e2b2d714ea3.'
It should be noted that among my fields of type NUMBER, named NUMERO, this field does not contain any empty or null values, and only contains integers. Do you have any ideas on what could be causing this issue?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi @DALI007

Apologies for the issue that you are facing here.

The “DataFormat.Error: We couldn’t convert to Number” issue often arises when working with data transformations in Power Query within Microsoft Fabric.

  • Column Data Type Mismatch: This error occurs when Power Query tries to convert a value to a numeric type (e.g., decimal, integer) but encounters non-numeric data. The column likely contains a mix of numeric values and non-numeric values.
  • Identify the Problematic Column: Determine which column is causing the error.
  • Remove Non-Numeric Values: In Power Query, filter out rows where the column value is not numeric. Use the Text.Select function to keep only rows with numeric codes.
  • Change Data Type: After filtering, change the data type of the column to Text. This ensures that both numeric and non-numeric values are treated as text.

Trying to adapt these steps to your specific dataset and requirements might help you in resolving your issue.

For a similar case, please refer to the thread : DataFormat.Error: We couldn't convert to Number.

I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks.

Hello v-cboorla-msft,

Thank you very much for your feedback. I refreshed the first dataFlowGen1 (in my case called dataflowGen1 named MAM_DATAFLOW_SOURCE, we can see the data in the table as shown in the first attachment). However, when refreshing the second dataFlow Gen2 named MAM_DataFLOW (second attachment) , I still get the error message "table does not contain any rows" and an empty table.
Best regards
