Earlier this month we faced an issue with the dataflow refresh.
We are using ODBC as source and we are using dataflow gen2 to load data to the lakehouse. Everything was running smoothly untill we started getting this error.
TabelNamel_WriteToDataDestination: Mashup Exception Data Source Error Couldn't refresh the entity because of an issue with the mashup document MashupException.Error: ODBC: ERROR [S0000] ErrCode:8, Reason:128
ERROR [S0000] ErrCode:8, Reason:128 Details: Reason = DataSource.Error;DataSourceKind = Odbc;DataSourcePath = DSPath;OdbcErrors = #table({"SQLState", "NativeError", "Message"}, {});Microsoft.Data.Mashup.Error.Context = User GatewayObjectId: e6edac56-bd52-4ed8-a513-2e7502245e0f
What we tried:
1. Check the gateway if it's online
2. If the gateway is up-to-date
3. Get data from the ODBC source
4. Try creating a new dataflow
We encountered a persistent issue where, despite a functioning and updated gateway, dataflow refreshes were failing randomly across various tables, resulting in only partial data loading. After ensuring all configurations were correct and the gateway was operational, we opened a support ticket for further investigation.
The support team reviewed the same parameters and then requested network logs to identify whether the issue stemmed from the Power BI side. In parallel, we consulted with our ODBC system provider.
The resolution involved a simple restart of the ODBC system, which successfully restored full functionality.

Not the gateway but the ODBC service that's what they mentioned. By they, I mean the consultant managing the ODBC.

a simple restart of the ODBC system
You mean a reboot of the gateway VM?
