workspace crashed while downloading report

Hi team,

I have experienced an issue with the company's workspace. One of my viewers downlaoded a report from a dashborad and all the suddend all the company's workspace crashed.
We were not able to open any dashboard because all the viewers and admins experienced the same issue. Would you please try to explain the root causes of this issue and which one is the best practice to fix it? Thanks

Hi @francesco_lomb ,

Is my follow-up just to ask if the problem has been solved?

If so, can you accept the correct answer as a solution or share your solution to help other members find it faster?

Thank you very much for your cooperation!

Best Regards,
Yang

Hi Yang,

Thank you for your reply!

I want to share more details so you can have a better understand of our issue.

Errortime out error on attempting to access other boards in the workspace

Action: the user tried to download the enire dataset from one dashborad
Solution: we removed the user from the workspace.

At the moment the worksapce has no issue but we want to understand the root causes and find long term solution.

Thank you for your support.

Regards,
Francesco

Hi @francesco_lomb ,

One reason I can think of is that when a user tries to download the entire dataset it may put a lot of load on the server, causing timeout errors for other users trying to access the workspace.

In power bi service when trying to export data when the dataset is too large, I have a couple suggestions:

Divide large datasets into multiple smaller parts and export them one by one. This will reduce the load on the server.

Perform data exports during times of low server load, such as the middle of the night, to minimize the impact on the server.

If these methods don't work, you can use your workaround - remove the user from the workspace.

Hi @francesco_lomb ,

I can not reproduce your problem, I can successfully download the report and continue to access the workspace.

Given we have so little information at this time, I can not tell what is causing your problem. You can create a support ticket for free and a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.

It would be great if you continue to share in this issue to help others with similar problems after you know the root cause or solution.

Thank you for your understanding.
