For the past two days I have been unable to access tables in existing data warehouses, through both the service and connecting to them. If I run a query against a table, it takes almost two hours before failing out with the error message:
"Unable to preview the data: Unable to execute the SQL request. Internal error "MwcTokenValidationException."
This also causes any pipelines pointing at warehouses to fail. It affects the two Warehouses I have in the same way and they're both in separate, Premium capacity workspaces.
I have had intermittent problems with connecting to Warehouses before but they have always been short lived (and because of this I haven't been able to retrieve the error message above before), this time it doesn't appear to be resolving.
Solved! Go to Solution.
This was a Microsoft side issue:
Root Cause
There was a known issue which caused the Distributed Query Processor (DQP) to be stuck and stop functioning during activation. This caused the data warehouse to be inaccessible.
Mitigation
To resolve the issue, the Backend Escalation Resources applied a fix and this action allowed the DQP to function correctly which in turn resumed all your data warehouse operations successfully.
Resolved after contacting support.

Hi @MOVC ,
Thanks for the reply from @AndyDDC .
This error usually indicates a problem with token validation, which may be related to authentication or authorization issues.
Make sure your authentication token has not expired. Sometimes, refreshing or redoing your authentication can resolve token-related issues.
Can you tell me your region?
I saw a case with you with the same issue and they resolved the issue autonomously behind them. So it may have to wait a few days.

Thank you for the reply, I have a ticket in with Microsoft support who are currently looking at the issue. We are UK South.
How would I go about refreshing the token from my end? It seems like whenever this issue occurs for other people it just goes away after a few days. I think we're 5/6 days in now.
Hi @MOVC ,
If you want to refresh the token, just clear the browser cache and refresh the browser.

Did not work unfortunately.
