Query Federation in Fabric

Hello,

I don't want to bring all the data in OLTP databases to Fabric OneLake (via Mirroring). I know about Data Factory but looking for query federation option. Is there a way to connect and query the OLTP databases (in Azure, AWS and on-prem) from Fabric Warehouse or Lakehouse? Additionally, does Fabric support Polybase today (like this)?

If these are available then how? If not, there are in the roadmap? Any response is appreciated.

Thank you.

  • Hi piyushpp

Direct query federation for external OLTP databases is not yet available in Microsoft Fabric.

Polybase does not currently support direct integration with Fabric Lakehouse Delta tables or Warehouse tables

In fabcon 2025 the focus was around bringing more sources through mirroring , there was no mention about federation query.

but worth raising it as an idea on Fabric portal

if this helps please give kudos and accept the answer
