Missing Primary and Foreign Key Columns

In my default semantic model, I can see relationships for my various foreign and primary keys.

However, the keys are gone when I try to create a new semantic model.  They also are not displaying in PowerBI.

I also see this error message when trying to edit the relationships in my default model:

I'd love to understand why this is happening and what I can do to properly configure my model. Thanks!

Hi Yang,

Makes sense re: relationships and new semantic models.

I've verified that the column exists and is not hidden in my default semantic model.  However, it does not show up when I build a PowerBI report using my default semantic model. Example:

The key columns do not display in PowerBI report with the semantic default model:

When I try to filter, no changes happen because it's not picking up the keys

Hi @clinegirl ,

For the nuisance of relationships disappearing when you create a new semantic model, according to the official documentation, relationships, metrics and other properties are not inherited from the default semantic model when you create a new semantic model, you need to define them manually.

When you try to edit a relationship in the default model, the error message you’re seeing indicates that the column airline_key is missing from the table.

I have some suggestions to offer:

  • Ensure that the airline_key column is not hidden in the table.
  • Ensure that the airline_key column exists in the table.
  • After verifying the column exists, try recreating the relationship. Go to the Model view, select the tables, and drag the airline_key from agg_monthly_airline to dim_airline.

If you have any other questions please feel free to contact me.

Yang
