Mirroring an Azure Synapse Datawarehouse Database to Fabric

We have an Azure Synapse dedicated SQL POOL - (DWU1000c) with multiple databases.

I am trying to mirror one of the database to Fabric using the Mirroring feature in Fabric.

I read the documentation and watched the videos and it seems that this is not currently supported.

Is this correct?

If true, will Microsoft introduce the capability to mirror Azure Synapse DB to Fabric in the future?

Hi @balafbm,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Mirroring an Azure Synapse Analytics  database to Microsoft Fabric is currently not supported.
If mirroring support for Synapse dedicated SQL pools is important to your use case, I recommend submitting your request via the Microsoft Fabric Ideas forum. Feedback submitted through these channels is frequently reviewed by the product teams and can contribute to meaningful improvements.

As of today, Synapse dedicated pool mirroing into fabric is not available and I do not foresee that becoming available in near future as well.

There is a migration assistanet tool :

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-warehouse/migration-synapse-dedicated-sql-pool-warehou...

In case if you want mirroring aspect, then you would have to have a data pipeline or dataflow gen 2 to copy data from dedicated pool to fabric ecosystem

Hi @balafbm ,

Why dont you try migrating Synapse to Fabric? MS Fabric is providing options to migrate.

You can refer this link

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-warehouse/migration-synapse-dedicated-sql-pool-warehou...

Also there is Migrate(preview) feature to migrate Synapse warehouse to Fabric.

Regards,

Srisakthi

Right now we are not in a position to migrate from Synapse to Fabric.

So wanted to explore mirroring certain tables from our DB, but that is not possible currently.
