The refugee crisis over the last 5 years or so is a grueling, and heartbreaking testament of rising human rights violation due to wars and conflicts. However, people have been displaced, and prompted to seek refuge for many years, mostly because of conflicts in their local regions. In this report, we attempt to look at the history of movement of people from one country to another. The data presented in this report ranges from 1951 to 2016, with some specific data available for a much shorter period. Through this report, we aim to look at the history of the refugee crisis and answer the following questions:
Which countries have had the most refugees?
Which countries accept the most refugees?
What are the demographics of the displaced people?
Where/ how many people from war torn countries are moving to other countries?
Which countries are they moving to?
How many applications has United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) helped with?
These are some questions we can definitely get answers to, however, the ability to slice and dice information in Power BI can give us insights into many areas of this data set. Feel free to play around, and see how number of applicants, status, demographics, etc. change over a period of time.
