This report shows how Power BI can be used to teach history in an enjoyable and interactive way. It allows the user to see how historic events changed the world – e.g. how democracy was in danger during the thirties, how crises shocked the world during the 70th and how democracy pushed communism back at the end of the 80th. Comparison between any two epochs is made easy by showing the data on filled maps with a seismometer-like graph to visualize events.
The second sheet makes the long path of countries to democracy transparent. It visualizes the relationship between government form and life expectation and reveals how countries developed over time. The user is free to focus on any continent or country. Political up’s and down’s are made visible by providing a colorful word cloud that brings unstructured texts into a meaningful form.
