The idea for this personal finance dashboard arose from a personal need of mine. I tested some personal finance apps from the United States and Brazil, but I didn’t like having to adapt to the apps' own styles and not being able to have flexibility with certain indicators of my personal budget that I value.
So, I decided to create this personal finance dashboard in Power BI. Its central idea is to allow you to monitor your daily expenses, similar to these finance apps, or at your desired frequency. It does not have direct integration with banks; I also found that super complicated when it would go offline. Thus, I created a simple Excel sheet with date, description, category, amount, and type of expense, and that is all you need to pull from your bank statement for the system to work.
My wife used to get frustrated with the apps, and with this dashboard in Power BI, she was very happy and much more confident to collaborate in managing our expenses. And whenever a new idea arises, I can go in and create a new metric, new relationships, charts, etc.
I really like receiving feedback, so please comment, bring insights, and identify areas for improvement; I appreciate it.
I've attached the pbix file, too. Enjoy!
