Created for MakeoverMonday 2020 week 15, this is the PBI version of a a Tableau version. This is an exercise to help me learn the nitty gritty details of PBI & Dax. Compared to Tableau, I think PBI had a slight advantage in the data transformation. And, once I figured out the DAX to use the slicer to drive the measure displayed I think that this was a more elegant solution than the Tableau parameter action. In creating the viz, though, with base PBI only, I had to go through a few extra hoops in PBI - creating 8 separate charts instead of 1 in Tablea; a 5 step process to create custom colors (1. copy source chart into PowerPoint, 2. use PP color picker to get RGB values, 3. type RGB into Google Color Picker, 4. copy hex into PBI) vs a 1 step in Tableau (1. click on source chart). I did explore some custom vizes for small multiples but they were complicated with features I didn't need and the vizzes were actually quite different than my goal. I also found PBI layout was more restrictive - I'm not sure how to get a vertical option, labeling could not be limited to max values (I thought there was a conditional option - correct me please if you know) and I could not get the overlapping bars. Here is the Tableau version of the viz:
