Comicgen : Comics that react to data
What is Comicgen ?
Comicgen is a custom powerbi plug-in developed by Gramener that reacts (emotions and body poses) based on data and data insights , this is visible in tabs from 3 to 5. Select a state filter and see the comic reaction
The Covid dashboard emphasizes on the use of data story telling techniques and Comicgen to help explain the current Covid situation in India.
The dashboard focuses on the top 5 states most affected by Covid-19 . There are two comics introduced to the story line(Dee and Dey). These two characters together try to explain the situation through 3 lens (confirmed , recovered and deceased cases).
This dashboard is also to emulate how you can use our custom component - Comicgen to your exisiting reports and also how story telling aspects can be introduced in powerbi dashboard.
We have created the report based on our 3 stages of data story telling :
1.) Identify the Problem Area
2.) Deep dive into the Problem Area
3.) Conclusion

Comicgen is an open-source tool that lets you create custom comic characters and scenes. Instead of boring charts and graphs, it helps you tell data stories through comics that people actually want to look at.
For example, if you're presenting quarterly sales data for South Korean webtoons, Comicgen allows you to create characters discussing why summer numbers dropped while fall sales soared - making the information instantly relatable and memorable in a way traditional graphs simply can't match.
Comicgen isn't just for making comics – it's a powerful way to make data interesting and memorable. It bridges the gap between dry numbers and human understanding.
Try using Comicgen for your next data presentation and watch people actually pay attention to your numbers!
