Fabric Data Agent won't stop running
Hi ilkka,
This behavior is normal when using Fabric Data Agents and is not due to any issues with your prompt or semantic model setup. Fabric Data Agents use an internal reasoning loop, which can cause them to keep processing after generating a valid response, especially when working with Semantic Models or following detailed or open-ended instructions.
Currently, there are no prompt instructions, stop commands, or configuration settings available that let users end agent execution once a response is produced. Options like setting a maximum number of iterations or timeouts are not provided to users, so the ongoing “thinking” is a known platform limitation, not a misconfiguration.
As a workaround, you can make your instructions brief and ask for a single final response, which might reduce further processing but won’t completely stop it. For cases that require strict execution limits, this would need to be addressed by future product improvements.
I also suggest submitting your detailed feedback and ideas through Microsoft's official feedback channels, such as Microsoft Fabric Ideas. Feedback submitted through these channels is frequently reviewed by the product teams and can contribute to meaningful improvements.
Thank you.
