link for fabric case sensitive issue

good afternoon

we have a powerplatform enviroment with dataverse which is configured to be linked/sourced with our d365FO; we created a fabric link to have access to d365FO data via dataverse fabric link; this created fabric lakehouse and sql end point warehouse, but they are case sensitive , contrary to our d365FO, which is case insensitive; this is causing a lot of issues on the data selection;

is this possible to create a fabric link but with case insenstive warehouse linked to the lakehouse? i dont want to have to lower the case for all the joins for comparisons;

thanks in advance for any tips

Hi @mama_Hani

In warehouses and lakehouses, everything is case sensitive by default. This was also a bit of a struggle for me and my team coming from a SQL Server environment where things are not case sensitive by default.

You can change the collation in the warehouse to be case insensitive: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-warehouse/collation

Hi @mama_Hani ,

as @tayloramy  already wrote.
You can change this for the warehouse, but it is not possible as an addition for the lakehouse.

For the Warehouse see the Workspace Screenshot

thanks a lot; i tried and it does work;

do you know when was this introduced?

Setting the collation for the Fabric Warehouse has been possible for a long time. However, it was only possible to create a warehouse with a different collation via Rest API.

For a good 1-2 months now, this has also been possible natively via the GUI.

Best regards
