When will Workspace Identity support Lakehouse & Kusto connections in Fabric?

Hi Fabric Team,

I’m trying to use Workspace Identity as the authentication method for cloud connections in Microsoft Fabric—specifically for:

  • Creating a gateway connection for a Fabric Lakehouse

  • Connecting to Azure Data Explorer (Kusto)

 

 

Currently, I see a warning that Workspace Identity is not fully supported for these scenarios. Could you please clarify:

  • When will Workspace Identity be available for these types of cloud connections?

  • Is there a roadmap or estimated timeline?

  • Are there any workarounds in the meantime?

    Thanks for the heads-up! I’ll check if the removal of default Contributor access is affecting my setup and manually assign roles if needed. Still curious if full support for Lakehouse and Kusto connections via Workspace Identity is on the roadmap—any updates would be appreciated!
