Unable to complete update request because one of its dependencies can't be found.

I am trying to branch out from a workspace to develop, but I am getting the error message :

Unable to complete update request because one of its dependencies can't be found.

I have done this before, this is the first time it is happening to me.

Best,

Hi @bw_chec - thanks for posting.

Here are some things to check:

  • Make sure you have the permission necessary to create and manage workspaces and are a Capacity Contributor or Capacity Admin for the capacity assigned to the workspace.
  • If the workspace is configured with version control like Git, make sure that the branch you are branching out from is up to dated and all items are properly synced.
  • Confirm all the upstream artifacts (semantic model, notebooks, data pipelines, reports, etc) are included and don't have any errors.
  • Confirm the workspace configurations and metadata are correctly set up (kernel specs for notebooks, connection strings, etc.)

Please let me know if you still have issues.

If this post helps to answer your questions, please consider marking it as a solution so others can find it more quickly when faced with a similar challenge.
