Syncing a Azure DevOps git repo into another empty workspace fails
Sorry for the misunderstanding. The user mentioned does have the right to create artifacts within the workspace. The inability of choosing the data destination indeed is a behaviour which differs between "Guest user" and native user within our customers Microsoft environment.
I have contacted Microsoft Support and had a meeting, where they confirmed this is a bug and needs to be addressed internally.
As a workaround the suggest to use Dataflow (Gen 1) and I am currently figuring out how to get the data from a Dataflow into my Lakehouse (Hint: I use a Dataflow Gen2 to ingest the data from Dataflow Gen1, paradoxly this seems to work)

I am not sure, if I know where to look up the available connections, is it the view in the menu "Manage connections and gateways"? If so, I am happy to share the following screenshot:
As of your suspicion, I think you are right! When trying to load data from the Datagateway Oracle DB, I cannot create / get a connection to the "data destination", i.e. a Lakehouse / Warehouse wihthin the Fabric workspace, no matter whether I create the Dataflow gen 2 fresh from the workspace, or implicitly by starting from the warehouse (where as a result, the destination is then already filled in, in the upcoming assistant)
Important note: I am operating in the tenant of a customer, and there I am an external "guest user"; Maybe this is the reason for the connection issues? Right now, I am a Fabric Administrator, so e.g. I can access the Admin portal menu.
Some more testing in that direction showed, that importing Excel data via Dataflows Gen 2 within the tenant of my company works, especially implicitly setting up a connection to the workspace plus choosing a warehouse, wheras a similar test fails, when done within the customers tenant;
This is the error when trying to run the Dataflow Gen 2.
So in this screenshot, I cannot even choose a Lakehouse / Warehouse within the workspace as origin for the Dataflow Gen 2.
Side note: As of now, I "switch" tenant by passing the Id in the URL like that https://app.fabric.microsoft.com/home?ctid=<TENANT_ID> Would there be a way to do that within the Fabric UI itself as well? By the way, I think Fabric does not like switching tenants around so much, and throws exceptions even if I use two separate browsers.

When we sync from a Git repo to a new workspace, we create all the artifacts that were present in the original workspace. So, if the you dont have permission to do this, it will fail. Please try from an account which has permissions to create artifacts and connections.
So in this screenshot, I cannot even choose a Lakehouse / Warehouse within the workspace as origin for the Dataflow Gen 2.
For the above sentence:
I believe this is again due to permission issue as the you have logged in as “guest user” and dont have the required permissions to access the lakehouse/warehouse.
So try with a different account which has permissions and let me know if the issue still persists.
