Notebook Not Appearing in Workspace When Using Save As on Another Notebook

I'm trying to save a copy of an existing Notebook.

I click on Save As. Change the name, ensure its in the same workspace.

Yet the file doesnt appear. Its not in any of the folders or DevOps.

When I try to save again with the new file name I want. It says the name is already in use. Yet I cant see it anywhere in the workspace.

Thanks for your help.

But neither of those responses helped.

I've just created a brand new Notebook and did the old copy/paste into.

Looks like the notebook is actually getting created, but the workspace UI isn’t showing it properly. Try refreshing the browser/workspace and use global search with the exact notebook name. Also check if it got saved in another project, branch, or hidden folder.

Hi @adamlob

What sometimes happens is when you Save as with a notebook, it saves it into the root or default location within your Fabric workspace. So if you're on an existing folder, go all the way back up to the top and then see if you can find your saved notebook.

Hello @adamlob,
If Fabric says the notebook name is already in use, then the copy may actually have been created even though it’s not showing in the workspace yet.
A few things to check:
1. Refresh the workspace/browser
2. Search for the notebook name from the top search bar in Fabric
3. Make sure no workspace filters are active
4. If the workspace is connected to Git, check whether sync is pending
Microsoft also has a troubleshooting section for missing notebook items:
