Missing button in Lakehouse "Manage materialized lake views (preview)"

I'm trying to use Materialized Lake Views in my Lakehouse with schemas. I was able to create two views using a separate notebook.

All the Microsoft Learn pages reference this menu called "Manage materialized lake views (preview)", but this button doesn't appear for me. I have hard refreshed my window, completely closed edge, and waited several hours after creating the MLVs.

Anyone know why this isn't appearing for me? Is there a Tenant setting that could be disabling it? (I couldn't find any)

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry I missed that. Could it be that your in the South Central US region? I see materialized views are not yet supported there.

Otherwise your environment might still need an update. My Fabric environment has client version 2510.4.26560-train, which shows the button.

Hope this helps. If so, please give a Kudos 👍 or mark as Accepted Solution ✔️.

Interesting! My Fabric home region is South Central US. I had assumed that the home region would be the same as my tenant's region in East US. However, it seems that the Fabric Home Region is not linked to the Tenant region.

Thanks for letting me know about how to check your fabric environment.

  • Feature rollout – The Materialized Lake Views (preview) option is still being introduced gradually. It might not yet be available in every tenant, so it’s worth checking the Microsoft Fabric release plan for your region.
  • Regional availability – Some Fabric capabilities are released region by region. You can confirm which region your workspace belongs to in Admin Portal → Capacity settings.
  • Preview settings – Make sure the Preview features option is turned on in your Fabric tenant settings under Admin Portal → Tenant settings.
  • Workspace type – The button will only appear in Fabric-enabled workspaces. If you’re using an older (Power BI only) workspace, it won’t show up.
  • Access level – You’ll need at least Contributor or Member rights on the workspace to view or manage Materialized Lake Views.

Did you just copy my question into an AI and post the response? I already did that myself 😂

Hi @jisaac, Materialized Views are only supported in lakehouses that have schemas enabled, which is still in preview. This might be the reason you are missing the button. Also, you only see the button in the lakehouse view, not in the SQL analytics endpoint view. There is not tenant setting for materialized views.

As I mentioned in the post, I am already using Lakehouse with Schemas. As can be seen in the photo I included, I am in the Lakehouse view, not the SQL analytics endpoint view. The button is still not there.

@nielsvdc Where did you find your Fabric environment client version? I can't find it.

When you click the Question mark icon in the top right corner, you can click the About Fabric on the bottom.
