Facing an issue while trying to resume a Microsoft Fabric capacity from the Azure Portal.

Hi Community,

I’m facing an issue while trying to resume a Microsoft Fabric capacity from the Azure Portal.

Steps:

  1. Azure Portal

  2. Microsoft Fabric Capacities

  3. Select capacity

  4. Click Resume

Error received:

Service is not ready to be updated

Additional details:

  • The capacity was previously paused

  • The portal sometimes shows the capacity in a transitional state

  • It may still be stuck in Updating, Pausing, or Resuming

  • Retrying after a few minutes gives the same error

Has anyone experienced this before?

Questions:

  • How long does the backend transition normally take?

  • Is there a way to recover the capacity if it is stuck in Updating or Pausing?

  • Did you need Microsoft support to resolve it?

Any suggestions or troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi @JibinSebastian ,

It looks liek your capacity is still being paused, wait for the state to say "paused" instead of "pausing" and you should be able to resume it.

This typically only takes a few minutes, but can vary depending on the size of your capacity, the number of things running, and the burndown status.

Hi @JibinSebastian

What happens when you go into the activity log for your fabric capacity? Does it show anything in the logs?
