Hello everyone,
I’m currently working on an analytics architecture involving Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O), Dataverse, and Microsoft Fabric, and I’d like to clarify whether a specific integration scenario is currently supported or on the roadmap.
This approach works, but it introduces:
Microsoft Fabric supports different mirroring approaches, including metadata mirroring (shortcut-based access), where:
Given this, my questions are:
Is it currently possible (or planned) to connect Dynamics 365 F&O tables to Fabric using a metadata-only mirroring approach, similar to how shortcuts work for other platforms, without materializing data into Dataverse storage or OneLake?
Has Fabric (or Dataverse) considered supporting F&O virtual tables directly, so they could be queried from Fabric without requiring physical Dataverse tables and Delta replication?
Some community discussions suggest that Dataverse-based replication might no longer be the optimal long-term approach for large F&O analytical workloads.

Hello @jmiliani74,
No, Dynamics 365 F&O virtual tables cannot be queried directly in Microsoft Fabric using metadata-only mirroring. Fabric Link supports only physical Dataverse tables with change tracking, so you must materialize virtual tables or use ETL pipelines to access F&O data in Fabric. No public roadmap currently indicates support for direct metadata-only queries.

Description / Problem Statement
I’m currently working on an analytics architecture involving Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Microsoft Dataverse, and Microsoft Fabric, and I would like to clarify whether a specific integration scenario is currently supported or planned on the product roadmap.
Short Answer:
Today there is no native way to directly expose Dynamics 365 F&O virtual tables from Dataverse to Microsoft Fabric using Fabric Link for Dataverse.
Fabric Link supports only physical Dataverse tables that have change tracking enabled, not virtual tables.
Work around
Yes it is possible, in my current assignment, instead of going for the mirroring or synapse link, what i did i created a external table shortcuts in fabric lakehouse and from there i queries dynamic F&O data in Lakehouse SQL Endpoints.

Hello ,
could you share an example of this kind of configuration with Dynamics FO ? please
Best regards,
