Hi Everyone,
We are planning to publish a report from PBI but we want to publish Model and Report seperately so that the model can be used for other reports. So if create a measure in report using DAX expresssion does it reside only in report or model ?
Also is there a case where it could reside either of those places ?
Regards,
Mohan
@Anonymous If you create a model measure such as Total Sales, it will reside in the model and will be included in all of the reports, and if you create a report measure which consumes Total Sales, then that measure will be local to a report and won't be accessible in other reports.
How hard would it be to check which version in right? These days, when you can have composite models with different data sources, measures can reside in either of these places, but I'd say they'll never reside in both at the same time.
@Anonymous , if you, consider the model as something that is the output of power query then it(Dax formula, column/measure) resides at the report level.
