Using operators contained in field in DAX formula

Operators specific to each record are contained in fields in my table.  I need to apply these as operators in a DAX formula. For instace, the operator could be > or < or >=,  etc depending on the VC_CD.  I'd like to create a calculated column replacing the operator in the formula below with the content of the appropriate field. (HLD_SIGN in this case).  I've done similar formulas in excel, so I'm hoping DAX has similar abilities.  Optionally, I'm open to trying to do this in the data transformation stage with power query if that's a possibility or better option.

 Can someone help me with the correct syntax?

Below is what the data looks like.

    Hi TMHMercy ,

    Please consider create a custom column like:

    if [HLD_SIGN] = ">="
    then (if [VC_RATE]>=[HLD_THRESH] then "aa" else null)
    else if [HLD_SIGN] = ">"
    then (if [VC_RATE]>[HLD_THRESH] then "aa" else null)
    else if [HLD_SIGN] = "<"
    then (if [VC_RATE]<[HLD_THRESH] then "aa" else null)
    else null

    Best Regards,
    Gao
