Switch Logic Error

Hi All!

Could not figure out why Switch function is giving off wrong result.

Rule Group Column Data Type is already set as Decimal both in the query and table.

Yet Rule Group 1.1 is returning the value intended  for Rule 3.4.

Please note that this is from Excel Power Pivot but I assume that there would be no difference in PowerBi.

Thanks!!!

In DAX, && is evaluated before ||. So your last rule:

"[Rule Group] = 3.4 && [Age_on_Encounter] < 730 || [Age_on_Encounter] > 6935"

is actually interpreted as:

"( [Rule Group] = 3.4 && [Age_on_Encounter] < 730 ) || ( [Age_on_Encounter] > 6935 )".

So you could try the formula isntead for the last condition:

[Rule Group] = 3.4 && ( [Age_on_Encounter] < 730 || [Age_on_Encounter] > 6935 )
