DAX or ETL tool

Given the choice between Alteryx and DAX, which is the preferred method ?

I'm sure this has been mentioned.  Feel free to offer links to other postings or comment.

Thanks

Alteryx - think SSIS.  Are there reasons to use SSIS (visual designer) over DAX (scripting) ?

I guess DAX is visual in a sense that you see the results but there's no sense of a data flow.

@Anonymous  I never used ALTERYX, what you are trying to achieve? I found DAX is very powerful but without knowing the requirement and also I never used ALTERYX, not sure what to tell.
