Average month calculation

I want to calculate the average units per month.  The formula I have is

Measure = AVERAGEX(VALUES(Dates[Month], 'Shipped Sales Detail'[Units]))

I get the error message "too many arguments were passed to the VALUES function.  The maximum argument count for the function is 1.  Can someone assist?  Thank you!

Please update the formula of Measure as below, the part with red font is updated one...

Measusre = AVERAGEX ( VALUES ( Dates[Month] ), 'Shipped Sales Detail'[Units] )

If the above one can't help you get your expected result, please provide some sample data(exclude sensitive data) and your expected result with backend logic and special examples. Thank you.

It because of ), try this:

Measure = AVERAGEX(VALUES(Dates[Month]), 'Shipped Sales Detail'[Units]))
