Adding Fill Color to Data Labels for Sankey diagrams

I'm using the Sankey 2.0.1 visualization to create really complicated pathways with a large cohort.

 

The issue I'm running into is that there are a lot of lines that make the data labels hard to read because the lines are behind the data label.

 

The options I have are to change the font color or font size. Color doesn't help at all and changing the font cuts the label off so I can't read the entire label anymore.

 

I'd would LOVE an option to change the fill color of the data label. Kind of like what Microsoft has in PPT for data labels on graphs, but in the Sankey 2.0.1 tool!
