Visibility of Tables Not Working Correctly

Hi All.

I am hoping you might be able to give me some guidance on an issue that I am having around the visibility of items on my dashboard visualisations.

I have a dashboard which opens on a page called Site Selector.  On that there is a decision tree which allows you to select a region and then a location within that region.  There are a couple of hundred selection options, so the decision tree makes those selections a bit more visually appealing.  Once you select you click a custom button that takes you to the next page called Support Tool.

On that page on the left there is a person selection where you can select the names of the people who live in that location.  Then once you have selected there are three tables showing a variety of information about the person selected.

The issue that I am having though is that if the name selector is created as a table then the name selector works fine, but I have been unable to hide the three tables until a selection is made (they need to be hidden as until a person is selected they show data for all people and it looks messy).

However, if I change the table (of names) to be a slicer (which then does allow me to hide teh tables until a selection is made) then I have a different issue - that if you then go back to the Site Selector tab and select another location - when you click on the button to return to the Support Tool the name of the last selected person is retained in teh list of people at the location - despite the fact that they do not live at that location and there does not appear to be anyway to unselect them as part of the new location selection.

I also tried creating a third page with the tables on and have the person selection made on the second page (with no tables on it) - but the selection made on the second tab, whilst drilling into the new third tab with the tables on - didnt carry that selection through.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve both issues.  I dont mind if the person sleection is a table, a slicer or anything else - but I need to be able to hide the tables until a person is selected, and I need previous selections to be unselected when making a new location choice.

Many thanks for any advice you can offer - I am fairly new to Power BI.

Liz.

Consider abandoning the entire concept and using the standard Power BI features instead (like the filter pane).

Consider reducing the number of clicks between your report  (NOT dashboard) users and the insights.
